Lactate dehydrogenase activity as an effect criterion in toxicity tests with Daphnia magna straus.

چکیده
Activity of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was used as an effect criterion in toxicity tests with Daphnia magna. In the first part of the work, the conditions for the use of LDH activity in toxicity tests with juveniles and adults of D. magna, were optimized. The influence of parameters such as the number of animals per sample, nutritional status, age and the presence of eggs in the brood chamber were investigated. In the second part of the study, both in vivo and in vitro tests based on the alteration of LDH activity of D. magna were developed and tested using zinc chloride as test substance. The results obtained indicate that LDH activity of D. magna may be used as an indicative parameter in aquatic toxicity tests.

Toxicity of nanoZnO in Daphnia magna fed with ZnO containing Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus dimorphus algae
Nano ZnO is currently used in the rubber, electronics, electrical appliances, enamel, cosmeticsand medical industry. Whereas most studies have used the ecological toxicity of nanoparticles, the toxic effects of nanoparticles in diet is not extensively explored. Because the algaeare at the base of the food chain, any change in their density, biomass and population, wouldaffect the food chain in ...
متن کاملToxicity of sodium molybdate and sodium dichromate to Daphnia magna straus evaluated in acute, chronic, and acetylcholinesterase inhibition tests.
As a result of a widespread application in numerous industrial processes, chromium is a contaminant of many environmental systems. Chromium and their compounds are toxic to both invertebrates and vertebrates and, for this reason, there has been a search for suitable and less toxic alternatives. Molybdenum compounds have been studied as alternative to chromium compounds for some industrial appli...
متن کاملToxicity Evaluation of Wastewater Treatment Plant Effluents Using Daphnia magna
Toxicity evaluation is an important parameter in wastewater quality monitoring as it provides the complete response of test organisms to all compounds in wastewater. The water flea Daphnia magna straus is the most commonly used zooplankton in toxicological tests. The objective of this study was to evaluate the acute toxicity of effluents from different units of Isfahan Wastewater Treatment Plan...
متن کاملFreshwater microcrustacean Daphnia magna Straus as an early screen model to compare toxicity of acetylcholinesterase inhibitors
Daphnia magna is a freshwater microcrustacean which is often used for acute and chronic toxicity testing in aquatic ecotoxicology. Recently, tests with daphnids have been used to prescreen the toxicity of newly synthesized acetylcholinesterase reactivators (oximes), which appear as weak inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase (AChE). In our study we investigated and compared the toxicity of five rev...
متن کاملReview on the acute Daphnia magna toxicity test – Evaluation of the sensitivity and the precision of assays performed with organisms from laboratory cultures or hatched from dormant eggs
One of the most internationally used bioassays for toxicity screening of chemicals and for toxicity monitoring of effluents and contaminated waters is the acute toxicity test with daphnid crustaceans, and in particular that performed with Daphnia magna. Standard methods have been developed for this assay that were gradually endorsed by national and international organisations dealing with toxic...
